High Poly Object Identifier “Unbork” script

Agile SketchUp Modeling - High Poly Object Identifier “Unbork” script by Yogesh

This script identifies the top 10 polygon offender components/groups in a model. It also creates a scene for the first object, as well as a copy of the offenders in red.

  1. In SketchUp 2021 and newer, go to Extensions > Developer > Ruby Console (In older versions of SketchUp, go to Window > Ruby Console)
  2. Copy/Paste the script on the next page into the little command prompt area at the bottom of the Ruby console, and then hit “Enter”. Wait a minute for the script to run.
  3. The model will jump to a new scene showing one of the problematic objects. Scroll up a bit in the Ruby console to find the top 10 offenders for high edge counts.
  4. Use the newly created scenes or Outliner’s search function to find those items in the model (make sure to clear Outliner’s Search once you’re done).
  5. Replace those items with smaller-poly components. As you do, the script will not update, but once you are done, you can run the script again to find the next top offenders, but once usually is enough.
