Here are a few common ways to improve performance in LayOut:
- Use Raster Mode – LayOut uses three rendering modes: Raster, Vector, and Hybrid. If you are in Vector or Hybrid mode while drafting, LayOut will render every single face, edge, and layer every time you move or zoom. To avoid significant lag while drafting, set your viewports to Raster in the SketchUp Model panel. For more information, see Rendering Models.
- Lower Your Resolution – The resolution you’ve set for your SketchUp viewports or images can affect performance while moving around your document. If you see stuttering while using Pan or Zoom, you can lower your resolution settings in the Rendering section of Document Setup. - Disable Auto-Rendering – LayOut re-renders your SketchUp viewports every time you make a minor adjustment or update a scene. If you notice lag each time you make a change you can disable auto-rendering in the General section of Preferences. For more information, see General.
- Use Draft Mode – If your document has complex textures, pattern fills, or heavy line weights, you may see decreased performance. Draft Mode will simplify line weights, suppress pattern fills, and pause rendering while you navigate your document. The default shortcut to enable Draft Mode is K. You can also toggle it on or off in the Performance section of Preferences. For more information, see Performance.
